At its inception (1979), the Bachelor of Physics Education Study Program was named the Department of Physics. This nomenclature was later changed to the Bachelor of Physics Education Study Program based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 39/DIKTI/Kep/1984. Bachelor of Physics Education study program is placed under the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 82 of 2014 on the Organization and Structure of the Universitas Sebelas Maret, it became a separate study program within the UNS FKIP environment.
The name of the Bachelor of Physics Education Study Program was ratified as one of the science clusters in the study program nomenclature based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 154 of 2014 on the Agency for Science and Technology and Higher Education Degrees. Graduates of the Bachelor of Physics Education Study Program are awarded an academic degree of Sarjana Pendidikan (S.Pd.) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). Bachelor of Physics Education Study Program uses Indonesian as the language of instruction for lectures which is determined by the Rector’s Decree. However, during panel lectures from foreign experts, English was used as the language of instruction. Bachelor of Physics Education study program organizes Bachelor’s Degree Education. Based on SK BAN PT Depdiknas Number 4084/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/X/201, the Bachelor of Physics Education Study Program received an A rating which is valid until October 30, 2024.
