The Bachelor Degree of Physics Education was formerly a Physics Department at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). Since the merger of the Faculty of Teacher Training and the Faculty of Education into one faculty, there is the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education after the Presidential Decree SK Number 55 of 1982 and began accepting students in 1976. Then the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education was born after the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 0555/O/1983 dated December 8, 1983, regarding the determination of the type and number of departments in each faculty within UNS. After that, the Department of Physics underwent a change in status and name to the Educational Study Program for Bachelor Degree of Physics Education within the PMIPA Department based on the Decree of the Director-General of Higher Education Number 39/DIKTI/Kep/1984 dated December 28, 1984.
In addition, it is strengthened by the Decree of the Director-General of Higher Education Number 222/Dikti/Kep/1996 dated 11 July 1966 concerning the Determination of 16 Study Programs in the UNS FKIP Environment. Then there was a change in the Organization and Work Procedure of UNS based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 84 of 2014 to eliminate majors. On this basis, the Bachelor Degree of Physics Education is no longer part of the PMIPA Department but was directly responsible for the Teacher Training and Education Faculty management at UNS to date. The Bachelor Degree of Physics Education received an A accreditation based on the BAN-PT Decree Number 4048/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/X/2019 which is valid, from 30 October 2019 to 30 October 2024. Based on the Rector’s Decree Number 524/UN27 /KP/2019 and Letter of Assignment from the Dean of FKIP Number 931/UN27.02/ST/2019, the Physics Education led by Dr. Sri Budiawanti, S.Si., M.Sc. as head of Study Program.
